Mayor Benz pledges support to the fire department
Darmstadt/Bursa. The mayor of Darmstadt's Turkish twin city, Bursa, Mustafa Bozbey Mayor Hanno Benz in a letter dated Wednesday (August 6) for his sympathy and willingness to help in the face of the devastating forest fires . Previously, Benz, together with fire protection officer Paul Georg Wandrey, the twin city of support from the Darmstadt fire department .
Following the forest fires in Bursa province, which claimed several lives and forced the evacuation of thousands , Mayor Benz conveyed the city's sympathy and offered concrete assistance in a letter to Bozbey:
"On behalf of the Darmstadt city council, I express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and to you. [...] Within our means, we can provide you with protective clothing, special hoses, or hollow jet nozzles."
Mustafa Bozbey expressed his gratitude for the swift response and emphasized in his reply that the sympathy, solidarity and willingness to help from Darmstadt would further strengthen the long-standing town twinning .
The municipal partnership between Darmstadt and Bursa has existed since 1971.
