The city of Griesheim is relying on animal-based landscape management for the natural regeneration of the city forest

Nature conservation with four-legged friends
Since 2022, the city of Griesheim has been using a sustainable method for landscape management: Donkeys graze specifically selected areas in the city forest, thus contributing to the restoration of a diverse forest floor. Earlier this year, they were already active in areas near the Gerhart-Hauptmann-School (Kirschberg) and at the forest playground .

Visitors welcome – but please without food
The donkeys are clearly visible from the path and can be observed. However, the landscape conservation farm strongly requests that visitors refrain from feeding.
