Excursion and tree planting with the Geo-Nature Park
Climate change is leaving its mark on the forests around Darmstadt. Heat and prolonged periods of drought have damaged numerous trees. Against this backdrop, the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park and the City of Darmstadt are hosting an event on March 7th entitled "Forest of the Future".
The meeting point is at 10 a.m. at the Schirmschneise parking lot on Eschollbrücker Straße. Participation is free.
Insights into climate-adapted forest development
As part of a forest excursion, experts will provide information about the current situation of Darmstadt's forests, the effects of climate change, and the importance of climate-adapted tree species for sustainable forest development.
Afterwards, participants have the opportunity to take action themselves and plant young, climate-resilient trees.
Mobile exhibition and exchange
In addition, a mobile exhibition will be set up at the meeting point, providing information about the connections between forests and climate change. There will also be an opportunity to talk with experts. Drinks and cake will be provided by the organizers.
The day of action is aimed at interested people from Darmstadt and the region and combines information, practical engagement and a shared experience of nature.
