City invites you to a digital information event – urban green spaces and open spaces are the focus of urban development
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science and research, will present its open space concept in an online information event on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The digital event will begin at 4 p.m. and will be held via Webex. The aim is to present the strategy for securing and further developing urban green spaces and open areas and to engage in dialogue with the public.
"The open space concept is a framework plan for the entire settlement area. It serves to permanently secure and expand open spaces and urban greenery," explains Michael Kolmer, Head of the Parks and Green Spaces Department. "These areas fulfill important functions for recreation, health, climate protection, and biodiversity. That's why it's important to us to actively involve the citizens."
The inventory assessment is complete and, for the first time, enables a spatially differentiated analysis of open space provision throughout Darmstadt. This provides concrete indications of areas where action is needed – for example, regarding the lack of usability in certain neighborhoods. Based on this, measures will be developed to improve, secure, or create new open spaces.
Participation in the online event is free of charge. Those interested can register now via the city's website www.darmstadt.de or by email to gruenflaechenamt@darmstadt.de . After successful registration, the invitation link to the event will be sent.
