Insights into the work of the neonatology team and modern care concepts
The Darmstadt Clinic cordially invites all interested parties to meet the dedicated neonatology team on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The event will take place in the clinic's lecture hall at Grafenstraße 9.
One in ten babies is born prematurely. The neonatology team at the Princess Margaret Children's Hospital in Darmstadt uses their expertise and dedication to ensure these tiny patients receive the best possible support. Close collaboration between neonatology and the maternity ward is essential to guarantee the newborns' chances of survival and their health.
At the event, various stations will present the work and equipment on the neonatal units. Visitors can, among other things, see "Paul," the world's smallest high-tech patient simulator—a realistic model of a premature infant measuring 35 centimeters and weighing approximately 1,000 grams. The mobile birthing table, the "Birth Trolley," used for initial care, will also be presented.
In addition, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and lactation consultants will provide information about services for families with premature babies. A photo exhibition by the Federal Association "The Premature Child" (Bundesverband „Das frühgeborene Kind“ eV) impressively illustrates the development of premature babies in their first five years of life.
The Perinatal Center South Hesse Level 1, a collaboration between the neonatology department of the children's hospitals and the maternity clinic of the hospital, offers comprehensive specialized care to premature and newborn infants.
Those interested will have the opportunity on May 9th to gain insights into the highly specialized care of the youngest patients and to talk to the experts.
