The city invites you to the Orangery on March 18th
As part of the "ZukunftMobil" project, the City of Darmstadt invites the public to a forum for citizens. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. in the Orangerie. There, potential measures for a new integrated transport development plan can be discussed and evaluated.
In addition, a four-week online participation period will begin at the start of March. Citizens will have the opportunity to digitally evaluate the proposed measures.
Basis: Analysis and target system for Darmstadt
The participation formats are based on a comprehensive analysis of the current mobility situation and on a coordinated target system for future mobility development.
The analysis, prepared by commissioned consulting firms, provides an overview of mobility in Darmstadt and differentiates between various modes of transport. It is based on extensive data evaluations, in-house surveys, and contributions from the initial online consultation, the kick-off event in 2025, and from the city's specialist departments.
A summary of the results can be found on the project homepage at www.darmstadt.de/zukunftmobil .
Dialogue process with citizens
Based on the analysis, a target system was developed to determine the strategic direction of the future transport development plan. The development process included, among other things:
- a technical kick-off in August 2025 with discussion in the advisory committee of the technical steering group
- Citizens' forums in the northern, central and southern parts of the city in September 2025
- a political vote in October 2025 with consolidation in the advisory committee of the political steering group
All documentation of the meetings and citizens' forums can also be viewed on the project website.
Focusing on specific needs
In autumn 2025, the needs of different user groups were examined in greater depth. Three workshops focused on the perspectives of economic stakeholders, commuters, and people with reduced mobility. The results will be incorporated into tailored measures for the new transport development plan.
With the citizens' forum on March 18th and the accompanying online participation, the dialogue process is now entering a further phase.
