Solution for continued existence
In view of the current financial and legal framework, the district town of Groß-Gerau is forced to make important decisions about the future of the city music school. As Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau emphasizes, this is one of the most difficult decisions in recent years: “We perceive the situation as very depressing and deeply regret the effects. Nevertheless, I assure that we do everything in our power to maintain the music school and thus also the cultural diversity in Groß-Gerau. ”
Effects of the "Herrenberg judgment"
In addition, the "Herrenberg judgment", which was made in 2022, complicates the situation. This obliges music schools to establish their teachers. So far, the lecturers of the Groß-Gerau municipal music school worked as honorary workers. “However, a takeover in fixed employment relationships requires positions in the municipal job plan, which in turn is part of an approved budget. Since this is missing for 2025, the continued employment of the music school teachers from April 1, 2025 is not possible in the previous form, ”explains Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau.
Preliminary housekeeping restricts the ability to act
At the moment, the city of Groß-Gerau is neither a decided nor an approved budget for 2025. This means that the city is in the so -called preliminary housekeeping. According to the Hessian municipal code (Section 99 (1) No. 1 HGO), only legally prescribed mandatory tasks and inevitable expenses may be made in this phase. This has a direct impact on the music school and its company.
Contractual terminations inevitable
Against this background, the city must terminate the existing contracts with the students of the music school as a precaution on March 31, 2025. Except for this, only the existing cooperation contracts with schools remain that will continue until the end of the respective contract term.
Commitment to the continued existence of the music school
Despite the current challenges, the city is working hard to find a solution for the continued existence of the music school. “Our priority is to continue to receive the music school with its diverse offer. We support the efforts of the teachers as best as possible, in particular through our full -time staff of the music school, ”continued the mayor. The initial ideas for a possible continuation of the music school company were already developed in a full -time teacher conference.
The administration, the music school management and the city's budgetary commission are working intensively to present a household that can be resolved and approved. The aim is to restore the city's ability to act and the cultural diversity of Groß-Geraus too
preserve. "We hope that we will be able to resume the regular teaching business of the music school in the future and would like to thank everyone involved for their understanding and patience," said the mayor's final appeal. The city of Groß-Gerau will continue to inform the citizens about all developments.
