Five evening events on justice and responsibility
Protestant City Academy of Darmstadt begins on Tuesday, January 27. Titled "Rewriting the Generational Contract? Justice and Responsibility Between Generations," the series will consist of five evenings running until March 3, dedicated to current issues of social cohesion between young and old. The events begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Open House, located at Rheinstraße 31 in Darmstadt .
The series is organized and moderated by Franz Grubauer and Anna Scholz , director and co-director of the Evangelical City Academy Darmstadt.
Social cohesion in transition
The event series addresses key debates on the role of generations in a changing society. It explores questions of responsibility, solidarity, and justice between young and old against the backdrop of demographic, ecological, and economic changes. The series also examines critiques of a purely economic view of intergenerational relationships and considers potential future-oriented models for a new way of living together.
Opening event with a lecture on social security
The series begins on Tuesday, January 27, with the lecture "Future Models for the Solidarity-Based Financing and Social Security of an Aging Society and the Importance of Flexible Retirement Ages." The speaker is Jutta Schmitz-Kießler Gerd Buntkowsky will moderate .
Further dates in the series
On Tuesday, February 3rd, Hans-Werner Wahl from the Network for Aging Research at Heidelberg University will speak about the mutual significance of generations. The evening will be moderated by Wolfgang Flach .
The event on Tuesday, February 10th, is entitled "Generational Difference: Do the images of generational attitudes from surveys and media reflect reality?". The evening will be moderated by students from the Edith Stein School in Darmstadt .
On Tuesday, February 24th, Silvia Pernice-Warnke from the University of Marburg will examine the topic of intergenerational justice from a legal perspective.
The series concludes on Tuesday, March 3rd, with a panel discussion on intergenerational solidarity and models of housing and coexistence in an aging society. Among other topics, the project "Virtual Retirement Home in the Neighborhood" will be discussed.
