Award ceremony on November 18th at the Residenz Palace / Exhibition until November 24th
Darmstadt. The City of Science, Darmstadt, the winners of the 2025 Georg Moller Prize on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Mayor Hanno Benz and Head of Urban Planning Michael Kolmer will present the award together with the Department of Architecture at TU Darmstadt and bauverein AG at the Darmstadt Residence Palace. The event begins at 7 p.m.
Previously, an independent jury of representatives from the participating institutions selected the best designs. The prize is endowed with a total of 2,600 euros . The award recognizes projects from the Design and Building Construction of Professor Wolfgang Lorch "Mission Control_DA" during the summer semester of 2025 .
Architecture between Earth and Cosmos
The central focus of the design task was the development of a visitor and control center for the ESA in Darmstadt . The aim was to make the interface between space and Earth tangible for visitors. The new center is intended to improve the communication of space exploration and provide space for education and research .
Since the existing ESA/ESOC has limited access for security reasons, the designs had to include an entrance building with security checkpoints and an urban connection to the site.

Following the award ceremony, an exhibition of the winning designs open. It can be viewed November 18th to 24th, 2025 , daily from 12 pm to 6 pm , in Darmstadt Palace

The Georg Moller Prize has been awarded by the City of Darmstadt to architecture students at the Technical University of Darmstadt since 1989. Since 2000, the prize money has been provided by bauverein AG . The award commemorates the architect Georg Moller (1784–1852) , who, as head of the Hessian State Building Authority, significantly shaped the cityscape of Darmstadt with his urban planning and buildings.
