New municipal platform facilitates access to advice, care and everyday assistance
Riedstadt, a town in the Büchner district, has created a central information platform specifically aimed at older people and their families. The new address www.aelter-werden-in-riedstadt.de now offers a compact, comprehensive range of services in the areas of advice, care, support, and everyday support.
The idea for the new website emerged as part of the Care Round Table, which was initiated by a motion from the SPD and unanimously adopted by the city council in February 2023. Mayor Marcus Kretschmann emphasized at the launch: "We have many services, but until now, a central overview was lacking."
Variety of support services in Riedstadt
Riedstadt has been committed to supporting older citizens for decades. The Riedstadt Social Community Foundation was established 35 years ago, including a provider-neutral counseling service. Other initiatives such as the Riedstadt Helper Network and the "Wegwarte" outpatient hospice service complement the city's support system.
The new homepage clearly structures these diverse offerings into three main areas:
- Advice and support
- Care and support
- Independent in old age
The latter is particularly geared towards preventative everyday assistance: Here you will find information on adapting your living space, meals on wheels, emergency call services, digital advice, as well as contacts to the local VdK branches and the Equal Opportunities Officer.
Online and soon in your mailbox
In addition to the digital offering, a printed flyer will be distributed to all Riedstadt households along with the upcoming city cultural program. It lists the most important addresses at a glance.
The project managers – including Stefanie Drozdzynski (head of the city's senior citizen counseling center), Gabriela Enderich (Wegwarte), Melanie Stahlecker-Zach (Atempause), and a representative of a care service – emphasize that the platform is constantly being expanded.
