Company run celebrates successful premiere at Dornberg Castle - over 1,000 participants defy summer heat
The GGV company run "GG runs" has also proven in its eleventh edition how firmly it is anchored in the region's sporting calendar. Despite the changed route and new location, the event attracted over 1,000 participants on June 13, 2025 - and transformed the Dornberg Castle into an atmospheric center of sporting encounter.
Successful premiere in the new environment
For the first time, the start and finish area no longer went through the city center, but at Dornberg Castle. The reason was increased security requirements. The new route had it all: The runners had to cross the railway bridge between Berkach and Büttelborn twice - a demanding section on the approximately five -kilometer circuit. A water point at kilometer two, supervised by the Hospizverein Groß-Gerau, provided a welcome cooling at over 30 degrees.
As in previous years, one euro per participant fell as a donation to the Groß-Gerau hospice foundation-a total of 1,200 euros came together for a good cause.
Great praise and strong performance
Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau was enthusiastic after the run: "This is an inter -municipal cooperation. My thanks go to all helpers along the route and in particular Thomas Zöller, who took over the organization with a lot of effort and experience."
“GG runs” also had a lot to offer in terms of sport. The fastest runner was Olaf Koch (Zöller Media & Sportz) with a time of 16:24 minutes. The fastest woman became Sybille Dölle-Karakurt from the Riedhexen with 20:07 minutes-eighth place in the overall ranking.
A total of 112 men's teams and 90 women's teams reached the goal. The teams consist of four runners. Companies, clubs and institutions from Groß-Gerau and the surrounding area impressively underlined the connecting power of running sports in the region.
Atmospheric final in the castle courtyard
After the run, the castle courtyard turned into a summer pleasure zone: DJ music, cool drinks and relaxed atmosphere ensured a successful end to the evening. Organizer Thomas Zöller summarized: "We are grateful for the great response-this shows how much 'GG runs' is rooted in Groß-Gerau."
The district town of Groß-Gerau thanks all participants, helpers and supporters and looks forward to the next issue of the company run.
