Corporate run in Groß-Gerau with a strong field of participants and a great atmosphere at Dornberg Castle
The GGV company run "GG läuft" (GG Runs) lost none of its appeal in 2025. Despite the sweltering summer temperatures and the new course around Dornberg Castle, 1,080 runners took to the starting line on Thursday evening – more than ever before for a premiere event.
The new start and finish area around the castle formed the atmospheric center of the event, which proved to be a complete success despite the more challenging route – including crossing the railway bridge between Berkach and Büttelborn twice.
Smooth process and inter-municipal cooperation
Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau expressed his satisfaction: “This is inter-municipal cooperation in action. My thanks go to the municipality of Büttelborn, all the helpers – and especially to Thomas Zöller, who once again took on the organization with great dedication.”
This year, as in previous years, one euro per runner was donated to the Groß-Gerau Hospice Foundation , resulting in a total donation of 1,200 euros . The water station along the route was maintained by the hospice association.
Music, atmosphere and top athletic performances
The highlight wasn't just about the sporting aspect: After the race, the castle square transformed into a "relaxation zone" with DJ music and a laid-back atmosphere. Olaf Koch (zöller media&sporTZ) as the fastest runner, completing the five-kilometer course in 16:24 minutes . Sybille Dölle-Karakurt (Riedhexen) was the fastest woman with a time of 20:07 minutes and even managed to secure eighth place overall.
Strong participation from the region
With 112 men's teams and 90 women's teams, the field of participants was strong. Companies, institutions, and clubs from Groß-Gerau and the surrounding area were represented, impressively demonstrating the region's sense of community.
Organizer Thomas Zöller drew a positive conclusion: “With over 1,000 runners, we have achieved our goal. The response shows how deeply rooted this race is in the region – even at a new location.”
The district town of Groß-Gerau thanks all participants, supporters and spectators and is already looking forward to the next edition of “GG läuft” next year.
