Police headquarters in South Hesse gives an insight into a variety of career opportunities - program at four locations
175 students in grades 5 to 13 explored the South Hesse police headquarters at this year's Girls'Day on April 24th. In Darmstadt, Heppenheim, Rüsselsheim and Erbach, they received a practical insight into the police profession - from securing evidence to service.
Officials organized a varied program at all four locations. The participants were able to secure traces with soot powder, get to know the detection service and even take a seat in a patrol car. A visit to a custody cell was also part of the daily program.
In addition to forensic aspects, the focus was also on physical suitability. The pupils were able to create protective equipment, test handcuffs on exercise dolls and gain initial experience in weapon handling under the guidance of a deployment trainer.
A special highlight was the demonstration of the service dogs. These impressively showed their skills in the search for ammunition and when arresting people - a demonstration that ended with applause and treats for the four -legged friends.
The aim of the campaign was to show young women the diverse career opportunities among the police and to arouse their interest in the police profession. Many participants were enthusiastic and extremely interested in a later career in the police service.
