Public information regarding the expansion in Griesheim-East – construction begins at the end of March
Around 160 residents attended an information session on Tuesday evening about the planned expansion of the fiber optic network in Griesheim. The city administration and Deutsche Telekom had invited them to the first information event in the Wagenhalle (vehicle depot).
Simone Remdisch, Telekom's municipal consultant, presented the technical processes of the expansion and explained how the fiber optic cables will be laid directly into the buildings. The current expansion area encompasses approximately 5,700 households in the Griesheim-East district. This area extends westward to Lindenstrasse and Uhlandstrasse. A detailed map will be published shortly. All affected households have already received an informational letter.
Second information event at the end of March
For those who were unable to attend, a second information session on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the St. Stephan community center . The city of Griesheim and Deutsche Telekom will again provide information on the technical details of the fiber optic expansion and answer questions from residents.
Construction work will begin at the end of the month
Construction work will begin on Monday, March 31st . Initial work will start in two areas:
- Corner of Berliner Straße / Brahmstraße to corner of Berliner Straße / Jahnstraße
- Corner of Berliner Straße / Brahmstraße to corner of Brahmstraße / Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße
35 kilometers of fiber optic cable to be laid and 44 new network distributors installed by 2027. be usable June 2025
