Citizens' information for expansion in Griesheim-Ost-construction starts at the end of March
Around 160 citizens informed themselves on Tuesday evening about the planned expansion of the fiber optic network in Griesheim. The city administration and Deutsche Telekom had invited to the Wagenhalle for the first information event.
Simone Remdisch, municipal consultant at Telekom, presented the technical processes of the expansion and explained how the fiber optic lines will be moved to the buildings in the future. The current expansion area comprises around 5700 households in the Griesheim-Ost district. This extends west to Lindenstrasse and Uhlandstrasse. A detailed overview map is to be published shortly. All affected households have already received a corresponding information letter.
Second information event at the end of March
For those who could not participate, a second information event on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the St. Stephan community center . Here, too, the city of Griesheim and Deutsche Telekom will inform about the technical details of the fiber optic expansion and answer questions from the citizens.
Start of construction work at the end of the month
The construction work begins on Monday, March 31st . First measures start in two areas:
- Corner Berliner Straße / Brahmstraße to corner Berliner Straße / Jahnstrasse
- Corner Berliner Straße / Brahmstraße to corner Brahmstrasse / Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße
35 kilometers of fiber optic cables are to be laid by 2027 and 44 new network distributors are to be installed. be usable from June 2025
