Higher volume of glass at Christmas and New Year's – postpone disposal if possible
Around Christmas and New Year's, significantly more waste glass collected in Weiterstadt than during the rest of the year. The city of Weiterstadt therefore asks residents to be considerate when disposing of their glass.
If possible, used glass should not be disposed of immediately after New Year's Day , but rather from mid-January onwards . At this time, the volume of glass returns to normal, and overflowing of the containers can be avoided.
While glass recycling containers can generally be used at any time, they often become overflowing, especially right after the holidays . Leaving glass containers next to the bins creates additional waste , which should be avoided at all costs.
This additional waste causes several problems:
– Discarded glass containers and broken glass have to be painstakingly removed by employees of the municipal works department.
– Broken glass can damage the vehicles that regularly empty the containers.
