New team for Goddelau library extends opening hours
A new team of volunteers has been active at the Goddelau district library since October 2025. Now, their involvement is being expanded: Starting Tuesday, March 3, 2026, 23-year-old Yarisha Garcia Raß will join the team at the Georg Büchner Library . This additional staffing will allow the library to offer extended opening hours.
Following the departure of long-time volunteer Anke Müller, Barbara Niepoth (65) and Sonja Laber (50) have been managing the library at the Riedstadt town hall in Goddelau since last autumn. With the addition of Yarisha Garcia Raß, the team now spans generations – united by their shared passion for books and promoting reading.
The head of the municipal library, Anja Stark, expressly welcomes the new addition. She is particularly pleased that the new staff member will allow the library to extend its opening hours. In addition to Mondays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm, the Georg Büchner Library will also be open on Tuesdays from 5 pm to 7 pm starting March 3rd.
For Yarisha Garcia Raß, working at the library is a return to familiar territory. Even as a child, she was a regular visitor to the Goddelau library, where she developed her passion for books. Now she is looking forward to helping with the lending process. She is particularly fond of young readers: interacting with children and witnessing their joy of discovery is a special source of motivation for her.
The joint launch of the expanded team demonstrates that the collaboration is working well. Different generations contribute their experiences – united by a love of reading and their voluntary commitment to the Riedstadt district library.
