Parliamentary group elects new leadership duo until the 2026 local elections
The Darmstadt Greens have appointed a new leader to their parliamentary group. Following Andreas Ewald's move to the state parliament in April, it was clear that he would resign as chairman. At the most recent parliamentary group meeting, Philipp Löwel (née Wagner) was elected as the new chairman with twelve votes in favor and two abstentions. Together with Eva Bredow-Cordier, he will now lead the parliamentary group into the 2026 local elections.
"We, the Darmstadt Greens, spread our responsibilities across many shoulders, and I'm pleased that Philipp Löwel, together with Eva Bredow-Cordier, will lead the Green Party into the local elections," said Andreas Ewald. After more than four years at the helm, he is looking forward to being able to devote more time to his specialist areas again.
Bredow-Cordier emphasized: "We know and value Philipp Löwel as a bright young man who sets and advocates for issues with commitment. The coming months will certainly be eventful, so it is important to have a strong team at the helm."
Philipp Löwel, born in 1997, has been a member of the Green Party since 2019. He was involved in youth work for the Protestant deanery for several years and has been part of the parliamentary group since 2021. He also sits on the Sports and Schools Committee of the City Council.
