Tight budget situation and property tax increase will be discussed
The annual citizens' assembly of the town of Griesheim on Thursday, September 18th . It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the main meeting room of the town hall. Those interested can also follow the event via live stream from home.
The focus will be on the city's difficult financial situation . Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl and City Council Chairwoman Ingrid Zimmermann will explain the background and decisions – including the recently adopted cost-cutting measures and the increase in property taxes. A question-and-answer session , during which guests participating digitally can also submit questions.
Griesheim's financial situation has been strained for years. Rising expenditures – due in part to the coronavirus pandemic and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine – are meeting stagnant revenues. The 2025 budget was approved after intensive discussions and projects savings of approximately three million euros. Nevertheless, a property tax increase was necessary.
