Tight budget situation and property tax increase will be discussed
on Thursday, September 18thThe annual citizens' assembly of the town of Griesheim . It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the main meeting room of the town hall. Those interested can also follow the event via live stream from home.
The focus will be on the city's difficult financial situation. Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl and City Council Chairwoman Ingrid Zimmermann will explain the background and decisions – including the recently adopted cost-cutting measures and the increase in property taxes. A question-and-answer session , during which guests participating digitally can also submit questions.
Griesheim's financial situation has been strained for years. Rising expenditures – due in part to the coronavirus pandemic and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine – are meeting stagnant revenues. The 2025 budget was approved after intensive discussions and projects savings of approximately three million euros. Nevertheless, a property tax increase was necessary.
