Association supports educational project at CMS and FES – further donations urgently needed
As the city of Griesheim reports, Black Souls Darmstadt e. V. presented a donation of 500 euros to the Carlo-Mierendorff-School (CMS) and the Friedrich-Ebert-School (FES) on the occasion of their 55th anniversary. The symbolic check was presented at the town hall to Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl, the school principals Ina James and Michaela Fröhlich, and Christian Grunwald from the youth services department.
Support for equal opportunities
The donation comes from an anniversary campaign by the association and is intended to ensure the continuation of the homework assistance program. Furthermore, the association's chairpersons announced that they will again be collecting donations at the May 1st morning gathering to support the project.
Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl thanked the Black Souls for their commitment and emphasized the importance of local solidarity for the educational landscape in Griesheim.
Funding gap from the second semester onwards
The program was funded by the Darmstadt-Dieburg district for many years. After the funding ended, the Griesheim youth services, the schools, and the parent-teacher associations were able to create a temporary solution. Thanks to the district's social foundation, funds are available for the first semester of the 2025/2026 school year.
However, support is still urgently needed for the second semester. The principals of the CMS and FES schools explain that without additional donations, the continuation of the program is at risk.
The importance of homework help
This free program is aimed at primary school children with special educational needs who do not attend institutional care. In small groups, the youth support program assists the children with their learning and language acquisition. The sponsoring associations handle the processing of donations and forward all funds to the youth support program for their designated purpose.
