Success story confirmed: "Blue Light Gang" grows into the next stage
On August 26, 2025, the Griesheim Volunteer Fire Department celebrated a special milestone in its youth development program. For the first time, members of the children's fire brigade, founded in March 2024, transitioned to the youth fire brigade. Oliver and Christian, both now ten years old, were officially welcomed into the junior division.
Children's fire brigade leader Annette Stoll emphasized the importance of this transition: "The change of the first two members confirms that the children's fire brigade can play an important role in recruiting future emergency personnel."
Griesheim children's fire brigade receives strong response
Since its founding, the Griesheim children's fire brigade has offered children aged six and up a playful introduction to the world of firefighting. Around 20 children participate regularly, supervised by a team of six. The program includes both fire service-related topics and recreational activities – most recently a ride in a turntable ladder with a view over Griesheim.
Due to high demand, there is currently a waiting list. Interested parents can register their children at kinderfeuerwehr@griesheim.de .
Support from local partners
The mascot "Blauli" was made by the sewing factory , a music box for welcoming the children came from donations to the Familientraum Griesheim Fieg Werbetechnik the printing on caps and handcarts . In addition, the Griesheim Volunteer Fire Department Association supports the children's and youth fire brigade as well as the active and honorary divisions.
