Citizens voted on top measures for the city center design
Griesheim. On Saturday, August 9, the city of Griesheim hosted "Mit(te) gemacht!" (Get Involved! action day "Sustainable Inner Cities and Centers. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., interested parties were able to learn about the results of the citizen participation process at the Georg-Schüler-Anlage, Georg-Schüler-Platz, and the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus. The event marked the conclusion of the funding project, which has been running since 2022.
Voting on 40 proposed measures
From May 27 to June 24, Griesheim residents had the opportunity to vote online for 40 proposals for downtown development, which had been reviewed and supplemented by the city administration. The ten most popular measures were:
- Unsealing and planting of the market square (118 of 199 votes)
- Planting trees in raised beds along the row of shops (104 votes)
- More events for children (72 votes)
- Public transport connection between north and south (71 votes)
- Increased use of the meadow at the Bürgerpark
- Activation of the pergola at the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus
- Full utilization of urban spaces by commercial providers
- Introduction of the “Nice Toilet” for free toilet use
- Green pergola and arches
- More greenery and shade at Georg-Schüler-Platz
Next Steps
