Fourth graders of the Wolfskehlen primary school experience vivid lessons for water cleaning
How does dirty water become clean again? This question was the focus of an exciting excursion for 32 students from the Wolfskehlen primary school visited the Griesheim sewage treatment plant on Wednesday, June 11th Classes 4a and 4b were able to experience how modern wastewater treatment works.
The children were accompanied by Jens Klump and Amar El Youssfi , who, as employees of the facility, led through the various stations. In two groups, the fourth graders received insights into all important steps of water cleaning - from mechanical pre -cleaning to biological clarification to the cleaned process.
Sustainability explained child -friendly
With visible curiosity and many questions, the pupils pursued the way the sewage treatment plant works. Sascha Uehmann , head of the complex, was pleased with the great interest:
"The curiosity was clearly noticeable to the children. It is important to raise awareness of young people at an early stage for environmental issues. That is why we will continue to enable such practical learning experiences."
At the end of the excursion, the children not only took home new knowledge, but also a better understanding of the responsible handling of water - a learning morning that is certainly remembered.
