Weeding and replanting on September 10th and 11th in the Southwest residential area
The city of Griesheim maintenance event at the mini-forest pilot plots on Anne-Frank-Straße Wednesday, September 10th, and Thursday, September 11th, 2025 , starting at 9 a.m. each day. The event is supported by the association MIYA forest eV .
On September 10th, the focus will be removing unwanted vegetation ; on September 11th, new plants will be planted . Volunteers are still needed for both days.
The meeting point is between Anne-Frank-Straße 17 and 29. A brief registration indicating the number of participants at miniwald@griesheim.de will facilitate planning. Spontaneous supporters are also welcome. The city also requests that you forward this invitation to family, friends, clubs, or colleagues.
Mini forests as green oases in the city
Mini forests – also known as tiny forests – are densely planted, fast-growing areas that serve as habitats for native species as well as cold and fresh air zones .
Since 2021, the city of Griesheim has created a total of seven mini-forests at five locations, comprising around 8,400 trees and shrubs . This has resulted in approximately 2,800 square meters of additional urban forest area , which is maintained jointly with school classes, businesses, and citizens.
