Four days of festive atmosphere with music, wine village and family program
Griesheim will once again celebrate its traditional onion market September 26 to 29, 2025. For the 48th time, the town center between the market square and the Wagenhalle will be transformed into a colorful festival grounds. Visitors can look forward to a varied program with live music, a wine village, culinary offerings, and attractions for the whole family.
The festival kicks off on Friday evening with the traditional beer painting ceremony by Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl in the Wagenhalle (carriage hall). This year, it's run by TuS Griesheim and is the centerpiece of the supporting program. Even the youngest guests won't be left out: carousels and hands-on activities provide entertainment. Theater lovers can look forward to the play "Mummel and the Talent Distributor" on the TuS Zwiebelbühne (onion stage) in the town hall.
Another integral part of the festival weekend is the city's district tour on Saturday, followed by breakfast and lunch in the Wagenhalle. Art lovers are invited to the cultural association's art exhibition in the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus , where works on the theme of "weather" will be presented and an audience prize will be awarded.
