Information events, new elections and rickshaw project in focus
In its first meeting of the new year, the Griesheim Senior Citizens' Advisory Board addressed numerous current issues. At the beginning, Senior Citizens' Representative Stefanie Ondruch reported on past and planned activities of the Senior Citizens' Office.
Lecture “The gut – the neglected organ”
Karlheinz Langen presented a flyer for the event "The Gut – The Neglected Organ," which is being organized jointly with the Senior Citizens' Office and will take place on April 15, 2026. The speaker is Dr. Raj Kumar Choudhary, a general practitioner and specialist in internal medicine and emergency medicine from Griesheim. He will provide information on various intestinal diseases, their effects on other organs, and options for prevention and treatment. An opportunity for individual questions will follow the presentation.
Re-election of the senior citizens' advisory board in autumn
Another key topic was the re-election of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board, which will take place by postal ballot in autumn 2026. The corresponding schedule was presented. An informational flyer should be available from the following spring Sunday.
The CEO, Dr. Matthias Beth, also reported on the activities of the city council and other committees. The 2025 annual report was discussed and approved for presentation to the city council. It will subsequently be published on the city's website.
Commitment to neighborhood assistance and care
Elfriede Kärcher, Tanja Stephan, and Jörg Mönch initiated a meeting of interested citizens to establish a neighborhood support network in Griesheim. Kärcher and Stephan also participated in a panel discussion organized by the Roßdorf-Gundernhausen Care Alliance, where representatives from seven political parties addressed the topics of senior citizens, aging, care, and social inclusion.
The rickshaw will be presented on Spring Sunday
Hubert Mühlbauer provided information about the next steps following the acquisition of the rickshaw, including the training of the volunteer drivers. The rickshaw is scheduled to be publicly presented on Spring Sunday and will subsequently be used for rides with residents and guests of the senior care facilities Haus Waldeck, Kursana Domizil, and Johanniter Tagespflege.

Members of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board will be available for open discussion sessions at the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus on March 10, 2026 and April 12, 2026, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Registration is not required.
