Volunteer emergency responders handle 13 missions
The town of Griesheim has thanked the volunteer firefighters for their dedicated service during the 2026 heat wave. In recent weeks, the volunteer firefighters handled numerous incidents under difficult conditions.
“Our deepest respect goes to the women and men of the volunteer fire department who take on responsibility, demonstrate solidarity, and always rush to help,” emphasized Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl. Behind this commitment lie countless hours of training, the sacrifice of leisure time, and the willingness to take risks to protect others.
Fires and assistance
During the hot weather period, the Griesheim volunteer fire department was called out to 13 incidents . These included two small forest and brush fires in the Griesheim forest, a larger field fire in Riedstadt, and support operations for the ambulance service, including opening locked doors and rescuing people.
The fire department asks the public to pay attention to prevention guidelines, especially during dry and hot weather conditions, to keep access roads and hydrants clear, and to call the emergency number immediately in emergencies.
