Landscape maintenance on the Kirschberg - Donkey support nature conservation in the city forest
In the Griesheim city forest, the new season of the forest grazing begins: at the end of March, six donkeys are expected to return from their winter quarters at the airfield and will actively contribute to landscape maintenance again. On an area east of the Gerhart Hauptmann School, on the Kirschberg, the animals first take over the grazing to contain the strongly rampant land riding grass and thus enable the settlement of new herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees.
In the further course of the year, the donkeys are supposed to graze various areas in the city forest. The aim is to promote nature rejuvenation and thus sustainably strengthen ecological diversity.
