Groundbreaking for new urban district – construction planned to begin in September
Initial development work has begun on the site of the future Griesheimer Anger July 8th , construction of the necessary access roads has commenced. This step is a prerequisite for all subsequent construction activities on the site.
To minimize disruption to the surrounding neighborhood, access will be exclusively via the Griesheimer Anger site – this is intended to protect residents from unnecessary truck traffic. The city points out that noise and dust pollution may occur in the coming weeks due to the construction work, particularly during the dry summer months.
Terraced houses available from autumn
Following the completion of the site development, the first construction work begin in September. The plan is to build terraced houses on Theißstraße , gradually giving shape to the new residential area.
Background: Conversion in the southeast of Griesheim
The approximately ten-hectare conversion site in southeast Griesheim borders directly on the August Euler Airfield. For many decades, the area was used for military purposes by US forces . After lengthy discussions with the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA), the city of Griesheim, together with Sahle Wohnen GmbH & Co. KG, to acquire the site in .
The Griesheim Urban Development Company (SEGG) has been coordinating urban planning ever since. The "Griesheimer Anger" development plan will create a modern residential quarter with new infrastructure – a significant development step for Griesheim.
