Enjoy regional cuisine and celebrate together in the marketplace
On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the Groß-Gerau district invites everyone to the 25th annual district farmers' market in the market square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The anniversary will be celebrated with regional specialties, music, a colorful children's program, and a harvest festival church service.
Variety of regional products and country women's café
Visitors can expect a wide selection: fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, flowers, homemade sausages, honey, smoked fish, liqueurs, goat cheese, and home-brewed beer. The country women's café in the city museum will be open, offering a large cake counter, freshly baked waffles, and numerous homemade cakes.
Festive opening and musical program
The harvest festival service begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Groß-Gerau town church, accompanied by the rural women's guitar group. At 11:00 a.m., the market will be officially opened by the reigning Hessian Asparagus Queen, Svea I, and patron, District Administrator Thomas Will. Musical entertainment throughout the day will be provided by "The Fidelitys" and the TSG Worfelden brass band.
Activities for children and families
For the youngest guests there is pony riding, farm animals, a mobile play unit from the Auszeit association (from 2 pm) and duck fishing at the stand of the regional farmers' association and the district administration.
Thanks to the organizers
The district farmers' market is organized by the Groß-Gerau district administration together with the Starkenburg regional farmers' association, the Groß-Gerau district rural women's association, the business association, and the town of Groß-Gerau. Numerous volunteers and sponsors are supporting the anniversary event.
District Administrator Thomas Will emphasizes: “The district farmers' market impressively demonstrates how diverse and high-quality our regional products are. It is a place for meeting and enjoyment, bringing producers and consumers directly together.”
