Luise-Büchner-School and Georg-Büchner-School receive bronze award
As the chess club SV 1946 Groß-Gerau reports, two schools in the Groß-Gerau district have been awarded the "German Chess School" seal of approval in bronze: the Luise-Büchner-School in Groß-Gerau and the Georg-Büchner-School in Riedstadt. The German Chess Youth Association (Deutsche Schachjugend e. V.) has been awarding this distinction since 2006 to schools where chess plays an integral role in everyday school life. Nationwide, approximately 170 schools have received this honor to date.
Long-standing support from the association
For many years, SV 1946 Groß-Gerau has supported chess programs in schools within the district. This includes the professional guidance of school chess clubs by certified trainers, the provision of chess equipment, and assistance with tournaments such as the School Chess Cup or regional competitions. Many of the club's current young members discovered regular chess playing through these school programs and are now integral members of teams in the Main-Taunus Chess Federation.
Invitation to the club evening
Those interested can get to know the chess club at any time: The weekly chess evening takes place on Fridays from 7 pm, the youth training on Saturdays from 1 pm.
