Events, information booth and flags throughout the entire campaign period from November 25th to December 10th
The town of Groß-Gerau has announced that it will again participate in this year's campaign for the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women," which is observed worldwide from November 25 to December 10. The town is thus reaffirming its commitment to human rights, equality, and the protection of women and girls.
Flags and information stand on the market square
In Groß-Gerau, as well as in the districts of Dornheim and Wallerstädten, special campaign flags will be raised throughout the entire campaign period. On Monday, November 25, the city's women's and equal opportunities officers will be hosting an information booth in the market square from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The stand is being organized in cooperation with the Equal Opportunities Office of the district administration, the association "Women Helping Women" (Frauen helfen Frauen e. V.), and the Groß-Gerau District Rural Women's Association. In addition to informational materials and educational programs, two interactive activities are planned: visitors can make buttons with statements or symbolically leave a footprint for the victims of femicide in the market square using spray chalk.
Background of the international day of action
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was officially established in 1999 by a United Nations resolution. It focuses on violence in all its forms – from discrimination to physical and sexual violence. The global campaign "Orange the World" has been raising awareness of this issue since 1991, traditionally running from November 25th to December 10th, Human Rights Day.
