A museum with 60 years of history
The Crumstadt Local History Museum will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026 and continues to be maintained by the dedicated volunteers of its support association. The permanent exhibition documents the development of the town and showcases numerous artifacts from various historical periods.
The exhibition ranges from finds from the Neolithic period to evidence of early history and more recent local history.
The "Woman from the Sand" as a special exhibit
Among the most famous exhibits is the so-called "Woman of the Sand." This is the well-preserved skeleton of a young woman from the Middle Bronze Age, dated to around 1500 BC. Her jewelry has also been preserved.
Other special exhibits include a restored and fully functional church tower clock, a guard post of the French occupying forces after the First World War, and a historic classroom.
Another focus is on so-called house sheets, which document the history of many historical buildings in Crumstadt.
Museum in the town center of Crumstadt
The local history museum is located on the first floor of the former elementary school in the center of Crumstadt, directly behind the old town hall at Poppenheimer Straße 1. Access is also barrier-free via the old town hall.
