District championships in artistic gymnastics with strong participation
As the gymnastics department of TSV Pfungstadt reports, the district individual championships in women's artistic gymnastics were held last weekend in the LEO Hall. Due to the high demands of the equipment, parts of the competition also took place in the nearby gymnastics hall of the Friedrich-Ebert School.
High participation and organizational effort
More than 360 female gymnasts competed in the all-around competition, performing compulsory and optional routines. The competition took place over four rounds on three competition lanes.
Department head Judith Klein explained that the event had set new standards both in terms of organization and the number of participants. The procurement and transport of additional equipment and mats, in particular, presented a major challenge. Support came from, among others, FTG, TuS Griesheim, and TV Crumstadt.
Good results for Pfungstadt gymnasts
The TSV gymnastics department was also represented with 14 athletes and achieved several good placements.
Among the youngest participants (born in 2016 and later), Alena Lopez achieved third place. Further placements went to Rebecca Wall (7th), Marika Schwarz (8th), Melissa Ilie (13th), and Alina Schilin (21st).
In the 2014 and younger age group, Alba Bittmann was the best Pfungstadt competitor, finishing in 14th place, followed by Günes Whymark (23rd). In the 2015 age group, Linda Höhn came in 17th, while Luisa Albrecht achieved tenth place in the 2012 age group.
In the 2013 age group, Mia Loewe impressed with sixth place and the highest score of the day on the balance beam. Milena Jasz finished in 18th place.
Medals and visits from the political sphere
In the final round, two gymnasts from Pfungstadt secured medals: Sofija Larkowitsch won silver, and Rike Sonnenburg bronze. Helena Lyras finished in eighth place despite an injury.
Mayor Maximilian Schimmel and the chairman of the Main-Rhein Gymnastics Association, Udo Bausch, were also present at the event and presented medals.
