Ahrend and Hoschek will remain in office until 2031 - city relies on continuity
The Board of Directors of HEAG remains in office until 2031: As the municipal investment company announced, the Supervisory Board unanimously decided, the contracts of Prof. Dr. Klaus-Michael Ahrend and Dr. Markus Hoschek to extend for another five years. The science city of Darmstadt and HEAG are thus relying on stability at the top of the urban economy.
According to the HEAG, the committee, led by Mayor Hanno Benz, was informed about the contract extension. The board members have been in office since 2008. During this time, it was possible to build up the city's participation management, to intensify the cooperation between urban societies and to establish the HEG as an internal management consultancy for the city.
The projects of the past few years include the repurchase of E.ON's DETEGA shares, the planned Sparkassen-Fusion, the foundation of the Darmstadt urban development company DSE and the introduction of the Darmstadt city economy app in the heart , which recorded around 250,000 accesses in 2024.
HEAG sees itself as a strategic control unit for municipal urban economy. With more than 9,000 employees in the urban investments, the holding also sees itself as an engine for the further development of public services in Darmstadt and the South Hesse region.
