Ahrend and Hoschek will remain in office until 2031 – the city is counting on continuity
The HEAG board will remain in office until 2031: As the municipal holding company announced, the supervisory board unanimously decided to extend the contracts of Prof. Dr. Klaus-Michael Ahrend and Dr. Markus Hoschek for another five years. With this decision, the City of Darmstadt and HEAG are ensuring stability at the top of the city's economic development agency.
According to HEAG, the committee, chaired by Mayor Hanno Benz, was informed of the contract extension. The board members have been in office since 2008. During this time, they have successfully established the city's investment management system, intensified cooperation between municipal companies, and established HEAG as the city's internal management consultancy.
The projects mentioned in recent years include the repurchase of ENTEGA shares from E.ON, the planned merger of the savings banks, the founding of the Darmstadt urban development company DSE, and the introduction of the city economy app " Darmstadt im Herzen" , which recorded around 250,000 hits in 2024.
HEAG sees itself as a strategic management unit for the city's public sector. With more than 9,000 employees in its municipal subsidiaries, the holding company also considers itself a driving force for the further development of public services in Darmstadt and the South Hesse region.
