Information evening with cardiologists Prof. Dr. Ascan Warnholtz and Alexander Lohrenz
As part of the German Heart Foundation 's Heart Week 2025, the city of Griesheim to a free information event on Thursday, November 13, 2025 , at 7 p.m. Under the title "Heart Attack – Recognizing and Treating Risk," cardiologists Prof. Dr. Ascan Warnholtz and Alexander Lohrenz in the pavilion of Haus Waldeck (Eichendorffstraße 50). The event is a collaboration between the Griesheim Senior Citizens' Office and the Warnholtz & Lohrenz cardiology practice .
Information on warning signs and first aid
“A heart attack often comes on suddenly – but in many cases it is preceded by warning signs,” explains Stefanie Ondruch , senior citizens' representative for the city of Griesheim. “Those who know the symptoms can act quickly and correctly in an emergency. That is exactly what we want to convey this evening.”
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common heart disease in Germany. Around 4.7 million people are affected, and approximately 120,000 patients from it each year. The cause is usually narrowed coronary arteries , which lead to impaired blood flow.
Typical symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, or dizziness . These initially occur during physical exertion, and later also in everyday life. The limitations can be significant and severely reduce quality of life.
Knowledge saves lives
The aim of the event, Ondruch continued, is not only to provide information
risk factors and symptoms , but also about first aid measures and the correct behavior in an emergency " Knowledge saves lives – that is the central message of our evening," emphasized Prof. Dr. Ascan Warnholtz and Alexander Lohrenz . After the presentations, there will be time for questions and discussions with the experts.
