Information events on June 30th for the city center and on July 2 for Eberstadt
As the science city of Darmstadt reports, the Office for Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation as well as the mobility and civil engineering office invite you to two information events on heavy rain prevention . The occasion is the presentation of the newly developed heavy rain hazards for the Darmstadt core city and the Eberstadt district.
The first appointment will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025 , in the Justus-Liebig-Haus and comprises the districts of Darmstadt-Nord, -West, -St, OST, city center and improvements . The second event follows on Wednesday, July 2 , in the Haus der Diversity in Eberstadt (Kirnbergerstraße 12) . The start is at 6 p.m. , admission from 5:30 p.m.
Exchange and specialist information on heavy rain prevention
After a brief introduction to the topic, the participants have the opportunity to examine the local map works, to introduce information and to exchange ideas at three thematic on the central aspects of heavy rain prevention. The thematic tables offer insights into:
- Self -provision by private individuals
- Municipal measures in the sense of the sponge city concept
- Strategies for climate adjustment
"Measures to adapt to climate adaptation offer much more than protection against floods," emphasizes Climate Protection Director Michael Kolmer . "They promote biodiversity, improve the microclimate in residential areas and also reduce the costs for the citizens through saved rainwater fees."
The heavy rain hazards are an important part of the Darmstadt climate adaptation strategy and are intended to facilitate risk assessment in particularly affected areas.
