Dino-Metal for the whole family at the festival in Dornberg Castle
"Volk im Schloss" festival in Groß-Gerau will feature a special concert for families in the summer of 2026: The dinosaur metal band Heavysaurus will perform on Sunday, August 23rd. Four dinosaurs and a dragon will bring a rock show to the stage that is sure to delight children and adults alike.
The concert is part of the three-day "Volk im Schloss" festival, which takes place from August 21st to 23rd in the vicinity of Dornberg Castle. Admission is free on all days of the event.
Rock music especially for children
The band Heavysaurus represents an unusual concept: rock and metal specifically for children – without musical compromises. What began as an extraordinary idea has since become an integral part of children's and family culture.
With guitar riffs, double bass drums, and catchy melodies, the band combines classic metal elements with child-friendly stories. While young fans are playfully introduced to rock music, many parents rediscover their own musical sensibilities.
Big stage show with dinosaurs
Heavysaurus concerts feature professional musicians in elaborate dinosaur costumes. Lights, fog, sparks, balloons, and confetti are all part of the show, along with live music. The result is a rock show specifically designed for families.
Family program surrounding the concert
In addition to the concert, the festival offers other activities for children and families. The Nestflüchter e. V. daycare center is organizing face painting in the playground. Furthermore, artist Rita Wiebe will be creating balloon animals there, which children can take home.
The Auszeit association offers childcare with various large-scale games, including giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, ladder golf, Viking chess, and other throwing games. There is also a protected diaper-changing and breastfeeding area for parents with babies.
Part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer
The "Volk im Schloss" festival is held as part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer. The event is supported by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art and the Savings Banks Cultural Foundation of Hesse and Thuringia.
