Decision on fire protection and partial renovation is closer- discussion on June 25th in the city planning and building committee
The renovation of the Hegelsberghalle in Sterngasse is faced with a crucial step: On June 25, 2025, renovation program will be presented in the urban planning and building committee . The focus is on how a portable solution can be implemented tense budget
The multifunctional hall is regularly used by clubs, schools and groups and also serves as an emergency accommodation for the population in the event of a disaster. The initial renovations on the facade and sanitary facilities were already implemented in 2011 by a funding program. At that time, however, extensive fire protection measures open, which have only been provisionally solved since then. Since these transition solutions are now in need of renovation, implementation of the existing fire protection requirements is now urgently required.
Partial renovation instead of complete solution?
In 2024, the commissioned specialist office submitted a comprehensive renovation program with a cost of around 10.87 million euros . However, a corresponding funding application from the city was unsuccessful. The committees then called for a reduced renovation concept that only includes safety -related measures. This so -called minimum program amounts to 4.22 million euros - but does not include any building technology nor energy -based renovation .

The administration emphasizes that such a waiver could result in higher repair and follow-up costs Nevertheless, in view of the financial situation, the question arises whether Griesheim should implement partial closures or in the form of a complete renovation The city council will decide on this at a later date.
After determining the renovation scope, a schedule can be created by the planning office The administration wants to check in parallel how indoor operation can be maintained during the construction period and which alternatives are made available to the previous user groups.
