Tree inspections reveal safety risk – replacement plantings planned
Two trees will be felled in the Herrngarten starting Wednesday, October 1, 2025. According to the Parks Department, tree inspections revealed that a Norway maple and a sycamore maple at the edge of the park are no longer stable.
More trees are being examined
In addition to the two necessary fellings, the Parks Department is conducting tensile tests on five more trees to more closely assess their stability. Depending on the results, a decision will be made as to whether pruning is sufficient or whether further felling is necessary.
Replacement plantings planned
All work will be carried out in compliance with nature conservation regulations. Replacement trees are planned for the felled trees. The plan is to use species that are climate-adapted and compatible with the park's appearance in order to preserve the appearance of Herrngarten in the long term.
