Tree inspections reveal safety risk – replacement plantings planned
Two trees will be felled in the Herrngarten park starting Wednesday, October 1, 2025. According to the Parks Department, tree inspections revealed that a Norway maple and a sycamore maple located on the edge of the park are no longer stable.
More trees are being examined
In addition to the two necessary fellings, the parks department is subjecting five other trees to so-called pull tests to more precisely examine their stability. Depending on the results, a decision will be made as to whether pruning will suffice or whether further felling is necessary.
Replacement plantings are planned
All work is carried out in compliance with nature conservation regulations. Replacement plantings are planned for the felled trees. Climate-adapted and park-compatible species will be used to ensure the long-term preservation of the Herrngarten's appearance.
