Films about racism, culture and nature – open-air screenings in Darmstadt and Hesse
Darmstadt/Wiesbaden/Frankfurt – Documentary films offer artistic insights into social structures and open up new perspectives. The Hessian Documentary Film Festival 2025 / LETsDOK is entering its final season, bringing topics ranging from racist terror to Olympic breakdancing to nature conservation to the big screen.
Breakdance and music in focus
The film 2UNBREAKABLE follows Frankfurt breakdancers on their journey to Olympic gold (September 26, 6:00 p.m., Filmforum Höchst). Mona Mur in Conversation, an artist from the post-punk scene, takes center stage (September 25, 7:30 p.m., Waggon am Kulturgleis Offenbach; September 28, 8:00 p.m., GUSTi Kulturkiosk Frankfurt). All screenings will be accompanied by discussions, and the screening will be open-air with covered alternatives in case of rain.
Remembering racist terror
The Mölln Letters commemorate the arson attack in Mölln in November 1992 and the subsequent wave of solidarity. The film will be shown on September 26 in Wiesbaden (Murnau-Filmtheater, 6:00 p.m.) and Frankfurt (Mal Seh'n Kino, 8:30 p.m.).
Bicycle cinema: Audience generates electricity
A special experience are the bicycle cinema screenings, where spectators provide their own electricity:
- A sky full of bees – September 26, 8:00 p.m., Hofgut Oberfeld Darmstadt (open air, covered in case of rain, admission free).
- The Meadow – A Paradise Next Door – September 27, 8:00 p.m., Altenhain/Bad Soden, Streuobstwiese OGV (open air, in case of rain Kahlbachhalle, admission free).
