Films about racism, culture and nature – open-air screenings in Darmstadt and Hesse
Darmstadt/Wiesbaden/Frankfurt – Documentary films offer artistic insights into social structures and open up new perspectives. The Hessian Documentary Film Days 2025 / LETsDOK are entering their final round, bringing topics ranging from racist terror and Olympic breakdancing to nature conservation to the big screen.
Breakdancing and music are the focus
The film 2UNBREAKABLE follows Frankfurt breakdancers on their journey to Olympic gold (September 26, 6:00 p.m., Filmforum Höchst). Mona Mur in Conversation puts a post-punk artist in the spotlight (September 25, 7:30 p.m., Waggon am Kulturgleis Offenbach; September 28, 8:00 p.m., GUSTi Kulturkiosk Frankfurt). All screenings will be followed by discussions; open-air screenings with covered alternatives in case of rain.
Remembering racist terror
The Mölln Letters commemorate the arson attack in Mölln in November 1992 and the subsequent wave of solidarity. The film will be shown on September 26th in Wiesbaden (Murnau-Filmtheater, 6:00 pm) and Frankfurt (Mal Seh'n Kino, 8:30 pm).
Bicycle cinema: Audience generates electricity
A special experience are the bicycle cinema screenings, where viewers themselves provide the electricity:
- A sky full of bees – September 26, 8:00 pm, Hofgut Oberfeld Darmstadt (Open Air, covered in case of rain, free admission).
- The Meadow – A Paradise Next Door – September 27, 8:00 PM, Altenhain/Bad Soden, OGV Orchard Meadow (Open Air, in case of rain Kahlbachhalle, free admission).
