Extended opening times on weekends from April 2025
The Hessian State Museum of Darmstadt will adapt the admission prices for the permanent exhibition for the first time in April 1, 2025. At the same time, opening times on weekends and public holidays are extended to offer visitors more time to visit the museum.
Moderate price adjustment after over a decade

- Individual ticket: 8 euros (so far 6 euros)
- Reduced: 5 euros (so far 4 euros)
increased costs of energy, personnel and structural maintenance as reasons for adaptation .
Museum director Dr. Martin Faass explains:
“In the past two years we have increased the number of visitors by 30 percent and came to almost 100,000 visitors . In order to continue to offer an attractive program, we also have to react to the increased costs. Nevertheless, admission in national and international comparison remains affordable. "
Free entry for children and family offers
- Entry to visitors up to 18 years remains free of charge .
- The museum continues to participate in the Hessen family app . Families receive free entry into the permanent exhibition and a 10 % discount on holiday offers for children .
- In the future, around 50 percent of visitors be granted free admission, for example through reduction permits and special regulations .
Extended opening times on weekends
From April 1, 2025, extended opening times will apply on weekends and public holidays .
- New opening times on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (previously 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
With this change, the museum meets a wish of the audience , which particularly likes to use these days for a visit.
