Hessian State Museum invites you to a hands -on campaign - cloud pictures can be submitted online
Darmstadt - Those who like to photograph the sky now have the chance to become part of an exhibition in the Hessian State Museum of Darmstadt (HLMD). In the run -up to the upcoming special exhibition "Clouds. Experience and understand" (August 22, 2025 to January 11, 2026), the museum calls on all interested parties to submit their own cloud photographs . The most beautiful recordings are presented as part of the exhibition.

The curator determines the cloud species
The submitted photos are made by Dr. Daniela Matenaar , curator of the exhibition, examined and classified. Visitors not only receive a platform for their sky recordings, but also expert information on the respective cloud of clouds .
The selected images will be presented on two levels August 22, 2025
- On site in the museum: in a specially designed peep-hole installation, inspired by nostalgic panorama aesthes.
- Online in a virtual "cloud gallery" on the HLMD website.
Preview of the exhibition "Clouds. Experience and understand"
The exhibition offers a multimedia journey through the world of clouds . The focus is on spectacular weather phenomena, 3D models , science exponates and an interactive experiment for cloud formation . The aim is to make complex meteorological processes understandable and to explain the variety of clouds in an understandable way. Visitors can try out and experience themselves as " cloud researchers " how dynamic processes in the sky influence our climate.
