City recognizes special commitment to the common good
The city council of Darmstadt will once again award honorary certificates in 2026 to citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the common good. The awards recognize individuals who have dedicated themselves to politics, business, administration, culture, or social welfare over many years.
The deadline for submitting proposals is Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The required form is available online in the Darmstadt Digital Town Hall:

Mayor Hanno Benz emphasizes the importance of the award: "With this honor, the science city of Darmstadt recognizes exceptional commitment and highlights it visibly."
Submission of proposals and inquiries
Proposals should be submitted in writing to the Office for Committee Services, Protocol and International Affairs , Department of Protocol and Honors, Luisenplatz 5 A, 64283 Darmstadt.
Civic Award in April 2026
The presentation of the certificates of honor will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026 , at 5 p.m. in the Orangery. The civic award of the City of Science Darmstadt has been presented since 1960 and has a long tradition.
