A local tour and information evening provide insights into local challenges and opportunities
Trebur – Under the title “Energy meets… community. Trebur – Great climate?” , the real estate roundtable, together with the municipality of Trebur and the Groß-Gerau district adult education center (KVHS), hosted an information evening with a town tour on June 25. The event took place as part of the series “Future-proof energy for all” and was sponsored by the Hessian State Energy Agency (LEA) .
Interested citizens learned about the specific effects of climate change in their community and discussed adaptation options. Mayor Jochen Engel participated.
Green spaces cool, sealed surfaces heat up
Climate expert Christian Kotremba , a geographer, led the evening and presented findings from a prior site visit. Trebur's comparatively good greening , for example, through large-crowned winter linden trees surface temperatures of over 45 °C were recorded on heavily sealed surfaces, while green areas remained at around 30 °C.

primary school was criticized . Kotremba strongly recommended removing this sealing. The shaded playground with climate-adapted planting was highlighted as a positive example.
Heavy rain, greening regulations and other dates
The audience asked many questions – including about the use of heavy rain hazard maps , private precautions against severe weather, and the introduction of a greening ordinance in Trebur.
Two further events in the series offer interested citizens the opportunity to delve deeper into the subject:
- August 19, 2025 : “Energy meets… community: Bischofsheim” – Guided tour with thermometric measurements
- September 19, 2025 : Workshop “Heat protection and climate-adapted gardening at Dornberg Castle” in Groß-Gerau
