Andreas Roß and Marc Mandel in the literary scene of southern Hesse
On Shrove Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Literature Initiative invites you to a humorous author reading as part of the "Literary Scene South Hesse" . It begins at 7 p.m. in the gallery of the Rosengarten Restaurant in Darmstadt.
Andreas Roß and Marc Mandel will present dazzling texts from their latest work this evening. The audience can expect an entertaining mix of poems and stories, ranging in tone from satirical and risqué to sharp-tongued and pointed. Appropriately for Shrove Tuesday, the focus will be on a humorous approach to language and observation.

Both authors have been known for their diverse publications for many years. Andreas Roß, born in 1962, has lived in Darmstadt since 1985. He works as a social worker and author and has made a name for himself with his crime novels, which are often set in Darmstadt. Marc Mandel, born in 1948, has lived in Darmstadt since 1997. After studying German literature, he wrote for the Darmstädter Echo and now primarily publishes stories and poems with Coortextverlag.
Admission to the event is free.
