80 best trainees honored – seven achieve top rankings nationwide
The Darmstadt Rhein Main Neckar Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) honored the 80 best trainees of their year at a ceremony in the darmstadtium. Seven of them even achieved the best results in all of Hesse in their apprenticeships.
In front of around 350 guests, Philipp Haussig, part of the training management team at Merck, praised the impressive achievements: "Your outstanding results are not only a testament to your bright minds, but also to your enjoyment of training. As future professionals, you have laid a fantastic foundation for your career."
Three “top trainees” with top performances
The honorees include trainees from 49 vocational training programs who achieved at least 87 out of 100 points. Three graduates stood out in particular:
- Rosa Kaudel from Ober-Ramstadt with 98 points in her training as a saleswoman,
- Vincent Villhard from Brombachtal with 98 points as an industrial clerk at Qlar Europe GmbH in Darmstadt,
- Philipp Penzel from Darmstadt achieved 98 points in his training as a machine and plant operator at Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer GmbH.
They also received the “Top Trainee” award.
Wide variety of apprenticeships
A total of almost 3,000 apprentices have completed their training in the Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce district. The range is broad: There are currently around 330 apprenticeships, of which about 250 are in the industrial and commercial sectors. "This represents enormous diversity and a key advantage of the training," emphasized Haussig.
The municipality of Birkenau was recognized as a “newcomer company” because it was offering training for the first time and immediately produced one of the best trainees, Fynn Herker, a specialist in water supply technology.
Strong takeover opportunities
Dr. Marcel Walter, Head of Training and Continuing Education at the Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, highlighted the prospects: "With their training, all doors are open to graduates. They can continue their education while working or become trainers themselves." Demand for trainees is also high: "The placement rate in 2024 was at an all-time high, averaging 76 percent."
