Works of art show diversity and participation - exhibition as part of the European protest day for equality for people with disabilities
Until May 30th, the including art exhibition "I-in the middle of the Groß-Gerau district" can be seen in the foyer of the Groß-Gerau district office. The colorful and expressive works come from people with and without disabilities and impressively show how art overcomes barriers and makes participation visible.
The exhibition is part of the European protest day to equality for people with disabilities and was jointly initiated by several institutions: the self-help contact point Groß-Gerau, the Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie Foundation, Vitos Section GGmbH, the WFB Rhein-Main EV, Life Aid District Association Groß-Gerau eV, basis eV-Mainspitze and the district administration Groß-Gerau.
The show was opened by the first district deputy Adil Oyan and Doreen Petri , director of the Paritätische Hessen. Marcus spleen provided the musical accompaniment of the vernissage of guitar and vocals.
"The title of the exhibition sums up our attitude: Everyone is part of it - regardless of restrictions or skills," emphasized Oyan. Doreen Petri also referred to the importance of cultural participation in the sense of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which ensures the same rights to cultural, social and professional participation.
