Exhibition “Inclusion and Diversity” in Darmstadt's city center
To mark the European Day of Action for the Equality of People with Disabilities on May 5th, the city of Darmstadt is presenting the photo exhibition "Inclusion and Diversity ." From April 28th to May 5th, large-format portraits of people with and without disabilities will be displayed in several shop windows in the city center. The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of inclusion.
The photographs by Manfred Rademacher depict people of different ages – with and without visible disabilities – from Darmstadt. The portraits are complemented by personal quotes and a QR code that leads to an in-depth interview. The exhibition can be seen in shop windows at Ludwigsplatz (former McDonald's restaurant), in the SchönSchee (Elisabethenstraße 18), at Citylab and in the Citylab pop-up store on Wilhelminenstraße.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: "There are still too few places where people with and without disabilities can meet. The exhibition draws attention to this and raises the question of how we can grow together as a society."
