The theatre ensemble Blattgold will combine texts by Kurt Tucholsky, Joachim Ringelnatz and Karl Valentin on October 17th and 18th.
The theater ensemble Blattgold of the association Lesen und Kultur für alle eV presents the program “(Un)Menschliches” on October 17th and 18th, 2026 at 7 pm each evening at the Theater im Pädagog in Darmstadt . The evening combines texts by Kurt Tucholsky with works by his contemporaries Joachim Ringelnatz and Karl Valentin.
Under the title "An Evening with Kurt Tucholsky and Contemporaries," the ensemble explores the highs and lows of human interaction. Lighthearted and sometimes whimsical poems by Joachim Ringelnatz are juxtaposed with humorous stories by Karl Valentin and profound, serious texts by Kurt Tucholsky.
“(In)human” between cheerfulness and depth
The program focuses on questions about what makes people human – and when behavior crosses the line into inhumanity. It combines humorous passages with more serious and moving moments.
The ensemble is thus taking up texts that are around a century old, but whose themes, according to the organizers, extend into the present day. "(In)Human" will be performed on two evenings at the Theater im Pädagog, located at Pädagogstraße 5 in Darmstadt.
